Uplifting and Encouraging

If you asked me today how my weekend was, you probably got a response like "It was the most bum weekend ever!" which means that I did absolutely nothing, and I laid around the room all weekend, except to go to church.

To be completely honest I was a bit depressed this weekend. Well...maybe "depressed" is a strong word, but usually a lazy weekend is a great weekend, but not this weekend. This time "lazy" was equivalent to being very unmotivated to do any work whatsoever. This led to me being in a state of almost depression. (Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything rash)

So anyways, that was my weekend, but now let me get to the meat of this post.

So my weekend was not the greatest, but God knew that I needed some encouraging and lifting up, especially because I had a class at 7:30am on Monday morning and Lord knows I did not want to go to that class with everything that was within me.

So here's what happened:

I ran into my good friend and neighbor Josh Jalandoon on my way to breakfast which was great.
My good friend Josh Puckett was at breakfast when I got there, so I got to eat breakfast with him, which was great.
On my way to class I ran into again my good friend Josh Jalandoon, which was great.
After class on my way to my room once again I ran into my good friend Josh Jalandoon...which was great.

To sum up my morning, it was great, except for the fact that I had class, but everything else outweighed the tiredness of class.

Moral of the story is...God cares for you and knows what you need at all times, whether or not you feel like He cares.

blogging and singing

This post is going to include a short tip about blogging. This tip may seem kinda obvious, but I just get reminded of obvious things sometimes that at times aren't so obvious to me.

The other day I was sitting in my room in between classes and my friend Josh Jalandoon (a.k.a. Jollypop) walked in with his guitar and asked if he could play for a bit. I happily said yes because I needed to just relax and I love to listen to Josh play and sing. After a couple minutes he then asked me if he could play a song that he had just written, and of course I said yes.

It was a great song about Jesus' love for us, and how even when we sin he still loves us.

After he was done playing the song I just sat there and then thanked him because it was what I needed. He said that he just got this inspiration earlier that day to write that song, so he had to skip his Greek class to write it.

There are many times when thoughts enter my mind that I think would be great to blog about later, but I fail to write those thoughts down somewhere, and then when it comes time to blog I can't remember those thoughts for the life of me.

So one thing that I am learning and I would advise you to take heed to if you are blogging is to simply jot down a couple sentences about thoughts that come to mind, so that you can remember your general thought when you sit down to type out a blog post. Or if the thought is just too good even only write a couple sentences about you may want to sit down right then and there and just write or type the whole blog post. But either way you shouldn't let those thoughts run away from you because you will regret it later.

winning streak

Well, some good news for the weekend so far. We had 2 away games this weekend. Friday we played Robert Morris (Springfield, IL) and Today (Saturday) we played Lincoln Christian College. These were 2 big games for us considering we haven't had any wins on the road so far, and we were on a 2 game winning streak before this weekend. Against Robert Morris we played exceptionally well, I thought. Our defense had a couple breakdowns, but thankfully we've got a beast of a keeper who saved our butts on numerous occasions. Andrew Stoddard is our keeper and he had a heck of a game on Friday. We ended up winning 2-0 to give us a 3 game winning streak. Then today against Lincoln Christian we had a slow start, I think because some of us were tired from the Robert Morris game (I know at least I was). I did not play well at all, at least in the first half. I don't know what was going on but I couldn't make a pass to save my life, but I picked it up in the second half. It was 4-0 at halftime, and we ended up winning 8-0, a good clean win. And to top it all off Jollypop (a.k.a. Josh Jalandoon) scored the last goal with 16 seconds left in the game. We went crazy just because he doesn't get to play that much and so it was a big deal for him to score. So all in all it was a good weekend. I'm glad to be back home though. I love traveling with the team and my best friends but it just drains me, especially playing two back-to-back games, so naturally I'm wiped now. Maybe I'll write a post sometime about some experiences of being captain. I've learned a ton throughout the season so far, but sometimes its just stressing. But its ok. I'll talk about that another night. Tonight is a night to celebrate. 4 game winning streak. We have our last home game this coming Tuesday against Grace College (Winona Lake, IN), so that is a big game. If you are a student at Moody make sure you come out and support us as we go for our fifth win in a row.
